LLAO LLAO RESORT, AN ARGENTINE LEGEND

About 45 minutes from Bariloche, Argentina, is the famous tourist resort of Llao Llao, one of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Located on a hill with the spectacular surroundings of the snow-capped Andes Mountains and the two lakes of Moreno and Nahuel Huapi, it is an elegant residence with begging-to-be-photographed vistas from every window.

The original hotel was built in 1939 out of wood and burned down a short time after it was finished. It was rebuilt a year later out of concrete and stone, but eventually fell into disrepair and was closed in 1976. After reopening in 1993, Llao Llao was transformed into the present day luxury resort and joined The Leading Hotels of the World in 1999.

A beautiful and challenging 18 hole golf course forms part of the resort and is distinguished by the 18th hole being ranked among the 500 best holes in the world.

As you would expect, a full service spa delivers treatments using local natural resources such as the rose hip fruit. Some treatment rooms also offer unforgettable views to help you relax and unwind.

A classic tea service can be enjoyed in the Winter Garden, which takes full advantage of its location in serving visual eye candy along with the pastries.

In both the casual restaurant and the fine dining option, the food is delicious and the service excellent. But, that is just what you would expect.

If you are not a golfer, what other activities are available? In the winter months of July and August, this is Argentina’s ski area, and in the warmer months, there are many scenic trails for hikers of all abilities and canoeing on the lake.

Our room, #417, was not very large but nicely decorated and cozy with breathtaking views from both the bedroom and small bathroom windows. The bathroom itself was small, but supplied all of the essentials and many luxury amenities as well.

Do I think it is worth making a trip to Bariloche to stay at the Llao Llao Resort? Definitely, because it has one of the most beautiful hotel locations I have ever seen and once you check into the resort you will applaud your excellent choice.
