I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT!

The Canadian flagWith new airline fees being announced almost daily, I could not believe that one airline had such a passenger-friendly cancellation fee.

When insuring international business class plane tickets to the South Pacific or Asia for their full value, the total cost of trip insurance can jump several hundred dollars. Even though most airlines charge a change fee and allow you to apply the value of your ticket to a new one within 12 months, many insurance policies require you to insure the full amount of the ticket since it is considered “non-refundable.” In other words, if you were unable to book another ticket and travel within the year, you would forfeit the full amount of the ticket.

It was a pleasant surprise to discover that our clients’ recent purchase of business/first class tickets to the South Pacific on Air Canada would be refundable with only a $200 CAD per person fee. Instead of having to pay approximately $700 per person in additional insurance fees to protect their purchase, they will now benefit from a much easier transaction with Air Canada, if they need to cancel.

This is very good news as many people, who are available to travel on longer winter cruises that begin in the South Pacific or Asia, are also paying higher insurance rates on their total vacation package as they move into the over 59 years old age category.

By making it easier for people to commit to airline reservations for vacations farther into the future without incurring heavy cancellation penalties, we all benefit.air canada heart

Thank you Air Canada!
