Hong Kong Luxury Travel

HongKong-night-325The Center of Glitz and Glamor

Hong Kong luxury travel places you in a world of giant skyscrapers and expensive retail stores.  It is bustling, dynamic and glitzy as you move around the major downtown streets.  The high end shops are busy with people not just looking but purchasing the expensive merchandise displayed.

International visitors support Hong Kong luxury travel with easy access from the airport located half an hour from downtown and from arrivals aboard luxury cruise ships that dock at the beautiful, centrally situated cruise terminal in the heart of the city.

The elegant Harbour City shopping mall, attached to the cruise terminal, is a mecca for Hong Kong luxury travel and appears to represent every possible international luxury merchandise brand.

But, Hong Kong luxury travel is not restricted to the city’s downtown area.  There is a charming serenity and stately presence to be found beyond the city limits.

The Story of the Hong Kong Well-Wishing Festival – Hong Kong Luxury Travel

As told to us by our guide, the Chinese are ardent followers of good luck rituals.  A number of years ago, it became a practice at the start of the Chinese New Year to write wishes on joss paper and throw them on the branches of a wishing tree.  As stories of good luck wishes being granted as a result of the wishing tree spread, more and more people wanted to improve their luck by participating in this festival.

In order to keep the written messages hanging on the tree branches, it was necessary to weight the messages with an orange attached to a string.  The messages were then thrown into the tree to hang over the branches and had to remain there for the wish to come true.

Eventually, the weight of all the oranges was too much for the branches to hold, and the good luck tree began to die.  Of course, the government could not allow this to happen, since people believed in their good luck ritual.  Another lucky tree was quickly and discreetly substituted, but it too was soon dying from the heavy weight on its branches.

Now, however, the problem has been solved.  The present good luck tree is made of plastic and can withstand the weight required to support all of the good luck wishes (and oranges).  You can see this tree in Lam Tsuen in the New Territories, but plan your Hong Kong luxury travel visit close to the time of the Chinese New Year, when the tree is alive with colorful messages requesting special good luck wishes for the coming year.

These are just two representations of Hong Kong luxury travel that you can experience during a city stay or on a luxury cruise stop.  To learn more about what to see and do in Hong Kong, schedule your 20 minute complimentary luxury travel consultation today.
