|

If you could escape the cold winter and travel to a large number of exotic destinations worldwide with exciting land adventures, dine on delicious gourmet food in small, weight-maintaining meals, have all laundry and chores taken care of, have a spa and fitness center available every day, enjoy quality evening entertainment, listen to interesting, knowledgeable guest lecturers, and meet congenial fellow guests who share your interests, would you want to sign up immediately?

It almost sounds too good to be true — leave your routine behind and step into a new, exciting life where your wishes are granted. This is the realm of the luxury world cruise, and you may still be able to find an available suite for 2014.

There are four luxury world cruises that we especially recommend. The first one is Silversea Cruises’ 2014 World Cruise, which will visit 54 ports in 29 countries as it makes its way from Los Angeles in January 2014 to Barcelona via Hawaii and Australia on the Silver Whisper. For 382 guests, this will be a true luxury interlude for 113 days.

Notable on Silversea cruises are evening shows featuring professional entertainers, primarily from the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia, who appeal to the sophisticated international audience onboard. The guests come from all over the world, as does the outstanding crew, but English is the language used on the ship.

With open seating in the dining room, it is possible to dine with new friends every evening or enjoy a quiet table for two. Getting to know fellow guests over dinner is a great way to learn about all of the fascinating individuals around you.

Regent Silver Seas Cruises offers a Grand Voyage from Auckland, New Zealand to London (Southampton) beginning on January 17, 2014 and ending 136 nights later. The Seven Seas Voyager accommodates a maximum of 700 guests on a luxurious all-suite, all-balcony ship.

In addition to all of the usual luxury amenities on Regent, they are known as the only cruise line offering unlimited, free shore excursions, making them a truly all-inclusive cruise experience.

On the Crystal 2014 World Cruise sailing in January from Los Angeles to London via Hawaii and South Africa, a maximum of 1070 guests on board the Crystal Serenity will have 89 days to enjoy their floating paradise.

Crystal is noted for their specialty restaurant under the direction of famed chef, Nobu Matsuhisa, as well as their free selection of classes covering timely, relevant computer applications, foreign language instruction, and other educational classes. The computer courses are very poplar and often fill up with standing room only.

To accommodate all tastes in dining, Crystal offers two fixed dining times where tables are assigned and do not change throughout the voyage. For those guests who prefer a flexible dining hour, there is also the open dining option to call in daily and reserve a table at their preferred time.

Seabourn-Sojourn

Seabourn also begins their 2014 World Cruise in Los Angeles in January and then sails to Hawaii and Australia. Aboard the 450 passenger Seabourn Sojourn, this luxury odyssey lasts 116 days until arrival in Venice on May 1st.

The three smaller, yacht style ships that had been the backbone of Seabourn were sold this year, and the cruise line’s three recently built ships are larger at 450 guests per ship and offer balconies, which could not be added to the older, smaller ships. The Sojourn is part of Seabourn’s updated fleet and was launched in 2010.
